May Update
Hi Everyone
“For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously and godly in the present age, looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Saviour Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works” Titus 2:11-14
Apologies for the late newsletter. After returning to SA from Magoe we took a good friend of ours to Pretoria for a double knee replacement. We visited with Katja and Morne and Leoni in Johannesburg while waiting for the operation to be done and to take Kobus Pretorius back home to Lydenburg. Somewhere during the travelling and hospital visits I started to feel a little bit flu-ish and because we wanted to be on the safe side tested for Covid and tested positive. Well, since the test I became quite sick and that’s the reason for the late update. Because we tested early on in the infection we were able to drive back to Whiter River to recover here.
The plans for our outreach to Zimbabwe and Zambia during June and July have been affected by this, but only that it has been pushed out by a week or so. The Lord already opened at least 7 ministry opportunities for us, so please remember to keep us in your prayers for this. Our goal is to preach the gospel and to assist with disciple making. Over the years we’ve come to know that preaching and teaching the Word and prayer is the simplest and best way of doing this. We’ve seen that the Proclaimer Bible studies are one of the most effective ways of making disciples of Jesus. Because of this we’ve bought Talking Bibles connected to small speakers in order to start Bible study groups. We will help with facilitator training and setting up the groups. To simply listen to two or three chapters of the Bible and then teaching everyone how to interact with the Word is valuable beyond comprehension. I always tell our Lifeschool students that what you need to be a witness to Jesus is to be born again (have the Holy Spirit) and the Word of God, the Bible. One of my cousins told me years ago, “Take them to the Word, until the Word takes them.” This always stuck with me and is so true.
Our Lifeschool student outreach to Chacane went well and they finished the construction of the long drop on the grounds. This month they’ll be going for the community meeting and the official start of Sunday Church services.
This church plant is completely the work of the Chicorroa church and that makes my heart so glad. Our involvement as missionaries was very limited and only in an overseeing, guiding capacity. Praise God for His goodness towards us. Kobus Britz is also still busy with the church plant in Nautsi Poelela so please continue to pray for that as well.
Our VISA issues are still ongoing. There is progress, but we are waiting to receive the papers from the leadership in Xai-Xai in order to submit them at the Mozambican Consulate in Nelspruit to get permission to apply for the work VISA’s in Mozambique.
Very good news is that our Lifeschool in Magoe started and we have 3 fulltime students. This has been coming for a long time and I want to thank you for your faithful prayers and support. Our faith and perseverance are finally producing fruit and I pray that many would be born again and discipled through this ministry. Please continue to pray for Beto and Nelson and the many obstacles they must face while performing this great task. Please pray specifically for relationships. The Xai-Xai Lifeschool is also continuing well.
We’ve been receiving new reports that the killings and beheadings in Cabo Del Gado province has escalated again. There are so many factors in play with this situation that it feels like the government don’t really want the situation to change. It seems like they are still not taking it seriously. Please pray for the many victims and their families, especially Christians killed and persecuted for their faith.
Because we’ll be away in Zimbabwe, Zambia and Mozambique for the next 6 weeks or so and it’s always difficult to write newsletters on the road, please bear with me and I will try my best to write the next update at the end of July beginning of August.
I just want to thank each and every one of you for your continued love, prayers and support of this ministry. To God be the glory and our motivation is to see your face in His presence. Remain sensitive to His leading and presence in you, right now, wherever you are.

“For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Matt 6:21 Luk 12: 34
Then the disciples, each according to his ability, determined to send relief to the brethren dwelling in Judea. This they also did, and sent it to the elders by the hands of Barnabas and Saul.
