LIVING IN YOUR PURPOSE: YOU ARE THE SALT AND LIGHT OF THE WORLD

Living a God-glorifying life is not just a lofty ideal reserved for a select few; it is a calling for every believer. The sermon in Matthew 5:13-16 illuminates our purpose in this world: to be salt and light. But often, our own self-doubt and misconceptions about our worthiness hinder us from fulfilling this divine purpose.

You might think you're not good enough, not knowledgeable enough, or simply too busy to make a difference. These negative beliefs, though, stand in stark contrast to the truths that Jesus wants us to embrace.

Firstly, you are salt and light. You have a preserving and illuminating influence in your spheres of life. Your actions can slow down decay and reveal truth in a darkened world. The impact of your good works cannot be understated; they can transform lives and communities.

Secondly, you are able. There are no prerequisites, no conditions to meet. You don’t have to be a perfect Christian or a Bible scholar. The Holy Spirit empowers you, providing you with the strength and ability to carry out acts of kindness and love.

Lastly, you are valuable. Your life matters significantly. God created you with a purpose, and your influence in your family, school, workplace, church, and friendships is immeasurable. Don't let the lies of insignificance hold you back.

Understanding these truths should empower you to step out in faith, breaking free from the shackles of self-doubt. When you live out your identity as salt and light, you actively engage in doing good works for others. Your kindness, forgiveness, generosity, and compassion not only impact those around you but also point them to Jesus Christ.

Imagine a world where every believer truly embraced their identity and lived out their purpose. Acts of love and grace would become a norm, and the world would witness the transformative power of faith in action. This is the world that Jesus envisioned—one where his followers actively participate in making the world a better place, one good deed at a time.

So, the next time you find yourself doubting your abilities or worth, remember these truths: you are salt and light, you are able, and you are valuable. Let these truths guide your actions and decisions and watch as your life becomes a living testimony to the glory of God. Start today and be the change you want to see in the world.
