COURSE CATALOGUE – TERM 3

  1. A Sure Foundation #1

“So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone”. (Ephesians 2:19-20)

Every believer in Christ must have a biblical basis (sure foundation) for their faith. The Bible gives us that sure foundation, that is Christ Himself, and the Word of God. In this course we unpack key concepts such as “Repentance”, “In Christ”, “Be Baptized”, “Receiving the Holy Spirit”, “The Lordship of Christ”, “Fellowship”, “Faith in God”. “Receiving the Word”, “Sharing Your Faith”, and “Christian Finances”.

Starts: Monday 15th July @7PM at the Barn; Duration 10 evenings (90-minute sessions); Cost: R100

  1. Empowered to Influence (Mission in the Marketplace)

The EMPOWERED TO INFLUENCE (ETI) Course will benefit every believer in how to be an influencer for Christ, but especially those who are in the workplace.

This is a four-session facilitated course that uses videos of Singaporean businessman Ken Chua. Ken teaches on seven paradigm shifts that need to take place for every believer to become effective salt and light for God in their places of influence.

The course will help believers to:

  • take on new biblical paradigms to live effectively as salt and light that impacts their spheres of influence for God’s glory.
  • see their everyday vocation in life as a platform to live out their call for God’s Kingdom.
  • develop a 24/7 worshipping lifestyle bringing them into a much deeper and joyful relationship with God.

Starts Monday 15th July at the Barn 7PM-8:30PM. Duration: 5 weeks.  Cost: R100

  1. Christian Apologetics (Defending your faith

Apologetics is the discipline that deals with a rational defense of Christian faith. It comes from the Greek word “apologia” which means to give a reason or defence. There have always been people who will try to trip us up or even persecute us for our faith. The Apostle Peter encourages all believers to “Have no fear of them, nor be troubled, but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect (1 Peter 3:14-15). To help us to be prepared to defend our faith, this course is pastor-led interactive discussion rather than a formal course, topics-based, drawing on excellent material such as talks by Ravi Zacharias and “New Evidence That Demands a Verdict” by Josh McDowell to provide a framework for discussion.

Starts Monday 15th July @ the Barn 7PM-8:30PM. Duration: 8 weeks.  Cost: R150

  1. Precepts course in Bible Study

This course will help you to study the Bible inductively, by observing the passage (what does it say?), interpreting what it means in context, and applying it in your life.

We will tackle the book of 1 Peter and incorporate the study methodology from Precept Ministries International.

How to Stand Firm When Tested (8 lessons) - Are you prepared for suffering? Will trials and persecutions reveal your faith and bring glory to God? Listen to what Peter says to believers enduring tribulations.

Duration: 9 weeks.  Cost: R200

  1. Relationships Discussion Evenings

Whether you may be married, dating or single, relationships can be a huge challenge, especially when it comes to how to put God first in your relationship, how to communicate constructively, how to ensure healthy boundaries, how to forgive, heal and restore trust, how to be a whole person in yourself and avoid unhealthy dependencies. These are just a few of the topics we cover in the quarterly Relationship Discussion Evenings.

The format is group discussion with topics and handouts, and the goal is to provide resources and skills for healthy upbuilding relationships, that will stand out as hallmarks of how Christ-followers relate to one another!

You don’t have to go through it alone! There is support in the group as we share together. DivorceCare groups meet weekly to help you face these challenges and move toward rebuilding your life. Each session has two distinct elements: A 35 minute video, followed by a time spent as a support group, discussing what was presented in that week’s video seminar and what is going on in the lives of group members.

We run separate support groups for men and for women.
